This photograph is an exhibition somewhere in Sussex. It appears to be of two men looking at some Vacuum Cleaner parts.
There were some interesting comments on Brighton Past with memories of electrical gadgets in the 1950s ranging from early valve TVs to primitive washing machines.
It highlights the leap we have taken technology wise over the last 70 years and what we might expect in another 70!

Several 'eagle eyed' posters on Brighton Past identified this photograph as being taken at outside the offices of Veale Solicitors at Dolphin House, 14 New Road, Brighton.
An interesting anecdotal link to this photograph is that Solicitor Frederick John Partington Veale (1897-1976) was an influential twentieth-century English historian and prolific writer. Who for years lived in Brighton, where he also worked as a solicitor.

A busy picture of perhaps the start of the January Sales, somewhere in Brighton & Hove.
Brian Littlechild described on Brighton Past how in 1953 rationing had started to come to an end (apart from bread and coal) and for the first time since the second world war, sweets were readily available!

This photograph taken on the corner of Cheapside and York Place, Brighton brought back some fantastic memories from many on the Brighton Past Facebook page.
The people are likely to be a theatrical troupe perhaps advertising a forthcoming Panto for Dick Whittington, standing outside Woolworths (see reflection in window).
The Northern Pub (now the Hobgoblin) was well known for putting on live music, so perhaps the group of people are linked to the pub or a nearby school or college?
